What Favorite Post-Workout Meal?

By March 27, 2009November 23rd, 2022Blog

We all know it’s best to have a healthy snack after working out. Studies have shown that eating a small meal of protein and healthy carbs helps increase the benefits of your workout and speeds up the fat loss process. So what’s your favorite post workout meal?

Im loving the new Arnold Select Sandwich Thins. (especially the whole wheat) they are quick and easy.. after a good workout I just pop some kind of protein in, and eat. Sometimes eggs, sometime chicken, today I tossed in a canadian bacon and and egg and had a real treat. That TRX just makes me hungry! I get a good carb,(my grain for the day) and protein is always on my list. A big glass of water (with ice) and I m good to go for another round!

I workout in the late morning, so after my workout I am really ready for lunch. My favorite is a “Thomas’ Hearty Grains 100% whole wheat” bagel with some type of protein (like turkey slice or chicken slices) on it and a couple slices of fresh avacado. The bagels have 10g of protein and the flavor is great!

this has nothing to do with post-workout.. really.. but I was wondering if someone has an idea for a good after BootCamp or late nigh snack. That seems to be my trouble spot right now. Something I can eat and get full on. All the new exercise is leaving me so hungry and I WILL NOT lose control. So far I have tried rice cakes w/sugar free jelly, and/or apples, pumpkin seeds (still in shells, to slow me down) needing help. Thanks.

I found my own snack.. I have been making my own protein bars lately and I have found that there is no end in sight to what I can come up with. Last ones were chocolate and peanut butter (what else) oh so good and so easy to make and have on hand always. This way I really know what is in them. NO bad for me stuff, ever. Good on the go and also I love to sit and have one with a good cup of coffee.. Now if someone has any ideas on how to give up coffee.

I like a protien shake or one of my homemade smoothies. I like to buy a bunch of differnt kinds of fruit, some baby spinach, and a container of plain or vanilla greek yogart. I make them up and freeze them ahead of time so I can enjoy them whenever without all the fuss. I cut of all the fruit then take out some small freezer, ziplock bags. I put in about 10 leaves of spinach, a different mixture of the fruits, and a huge scoop (about 2 tablespoons) of yogart. Fill the bag 1/3 to 1/2 full, squeeze out the excess air, seal and freeze. Then when I want one, I grab the bag put contents in the blender with about 1/2 cup milk, (orange juice or water will also work) then blend and drink. Great for a hot summer day!! It it fun to try diffent mixes with the fruit for different flavors and you don’t taste the spinach at all!! Good way to sneak in some veggies. Somtimes I will add a few fresh baby carrots too!
